To promote the Portuguese language and culture by offering student scholarships for continued education.

The Portuguese Education Foundation of Central California is a non-profit organization established to encourage students to study, understand, and communicate the values of the Portuguese language and culture.

  • More than 850 scholarships awarded since 1992

  • $370,000+ funds for scholarships since 1992

  • Free annual community events to promote language, literature, music & culture

  • Annual Recognition of Student of the Year, Educator of the Year, Business of the Year, and a Citizen of the Year.

  • Eight Students of the Year recognized for earning Doctoral degrees

  • Annual Fado and Wine Tasting fundraiser

  • Annual Day of Portugal Gold Tournament fundraiser

  • Organized visits from Portuguese dignitaries including the Prime Minister of Portugal

  • Supported the establishment of the Center for Portuguese Studies at Stanislaus State University in Turlock, CA, by funding a part-time Portuguese instructor who is now full-time
